Each mission feels like it has a purpose and Blizzard varies the mission objectives to keep it interesting the whole time. Co-Op missions help maintain the replay value of Starcraft II. You can choose to play with an online friend or an AI in shorter, objective based missions that aren't part of the story campaign.
What's cool here is that you get to check out all of the playable heroes in the Starcraft II universe. Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, Artanis, and many others. These story-important characters have special abilities beyond the typical units in the standard game. Multiplayer delivers the highest replay factor if you want to test your skills against other players.
It's a very different experience from single player. The way to beat your opponent is often a frantic pace of resource gathering, expansion, constant attacking, and requires a deep knowledge of the three factions. Competitive RTS games aren't for everyone, though, and it can feel like more work than fun. Custom games are another way to change up the standard game.
Between Melee and Arcade custom games, you can play on altered rules, custom units, and user created maps. The Collection tab houses all the different items, skins, voice bundles, premium maps, and other purchased custom enhancements you can collect for the game.
You can't go wrong with any of the other Blizzard developed real time strategy games. It's still played as a professional eSport in South Korea and while the graphics are outdated, the rest of it is timeless. Warcraft III is another strong contender. It's a fantasy setting as opposed to sci-fi, and the feel of the massive armies in Starcraft take a more focused approach with fewer units and a bit slower pace. Experience intergalactic warfare through an epic story campaign, best-in-class multiplayer competition, and collaborative co-op missions.
Battle opponents of similar skill on maps from all corners of the galaxy. Climb the ladder and secure your legacy! Team up with a friend to tackle intense missions and upgrade your commander with powerful units and abilities.
Kerrigan, Raynor, and Artanis are completely free, and all other Commanders are free up to level 5. Skip to Main Content Skip to Footer. Build your base and conscript your army in a real-time, military sci-fi vision of the future.
The ancient Protoss live in harmony, connected to one another by the eternal psionic bond known as the Khala. They exiled the dissident individualists among them to the cold darkness of space long ago. Now, Protoss society has risen to unparalleled greatness, but their rigid hierarchy inspires rebellion, as the young Executor Artanis, dispatched to find his missing predecessor on a Zerg-infested planet, will shortly discover.
Read About Subject. A noble High Templar, Tassadar has walked the Protoss planet of Aiur for centuries as both warrior and philosopher.
Shortly before discovering Zerg activity in the Koprulu sector, Tassadar observed the movements of the Terran species; now, he wonders if they might have greater potential than to be unwitting victims of the Zerg or casualties of the Protoss armada. The Terrans are intrepid colonists, generations removed from Earth and governed by a failing Confederacy. Among the dilapidated fringe worlds, Marshal Jim Raynor joins up with a no-nonsense psionic assassin named Sarah Kerrigan and a group of aspiring freedom fighters to survive the destructive first contact of Protoss and Zerg.
Soon, planets throughout the sector spiral into all-out war, and Raynor realizes he may have signed up for something much bigger than mere survival. After graduating from the cutthroat academy, she earned her canister rifle and light-refracting stealth suit, and served the Confederacy with distinction. Sarah has had many masters over her life. Her dedication and competence are clear, but her personal loyalties are hazy.
It remains to be seen if her fellow soldiers can be truly loyal to her in turn. This game is still one of the most important of its genre despite the fact that it uses a technology that is rather outdated.
Each one of these races is totally different and has a set of characteristics that vary enough to make it necessary to use a different playing style with each race. Each one of the factions has special units with features and needs that are totally different , even though all of them depend on the same resources: the Kristalis mineral and the Vespene gas.
Each one of these has its own use depending on the race, so that depending on who we control we'll need more of one or the other.
