You could not do this on the iPad. Regarding updating using iTunes. If your internet is not particularly fast, the iPad may disconnect before the download is completed. If it does, just let the download finish, then reconnect the device.

Sometimes that helps remove those terms dialog boxes that won't go away. No guarantees, but it's worth a try. Please don't let the section about force restarting being a last resort deter you from attempting it. I have force restarted my iOS devices over and over again in order to reset system issues. Sorry to be so late in reverting. Tried the above and various other, but have at last succeeded. For the benefit of anyone else, I was browsing various ways to do it on the web, and the remedy for me was to install a connection from my iPad to my iMac, that came up with iTunes, and it was self explanatory from then on, and the new update installed so easily on the iPad.
