Downloading from sony camera using catalyst browser

That enabled editing in FCP X. Would prefer not to drill down into folders but I think I recall reading that Ian is working on this one. More as I have some additional time to delve into it. Hi Ian. Sorry to ask again is there any chance of getting the batch working ASAP! Don't really want to want for the new release if it's going to be weeks away as I have work for it now! Do you think batch can be sorted in a couple of weeks?

If it is I can use it! And I really want to use it as it's what I've been wanting for! I know I'm going to love using in which I why I'm so inpatient! RS - you can do batch transcode in Raw Viewer if you can't wait for fix to catalyst. Thats a good idea!!

I've been doing it through davinic and as I dont use RAW with my F55 havent looked at the raw viewer! Thanks for the idea!! I will try it!! No MPEG to my knowledge. Yes your right just tried it! I do have options just finding it hard to wait as Catalyst is so close to being want I need!! Wish Ian could just turn the batch On for us!!

But thanks anyway. Ian how do I transcode footage to Pro res in Content browser.. I dont have any editing software at all.. Of course I could be something wrong but when I try the option is greyed out. Ok thanks. Even MPEG. Say I have footage up in the explorer window. All the thumbnails. And I want to change them to pro ores.

How do u do that. I don't have FCPX or any other editing software. Just transcode the footage to a folder or something? Ian, In order for the new Catalyst programs to be useful, they at least Prepare must incorporate the following: Batch TranscodeDual window viewers for Source and Target for the copy process CRC during copy process Ability to Transcode 4K files as either HD or 4K output files The file output of XAVC and ProRes transcodes must be as fast as other third party programs not twice as long The video noise level of the transcoded file should not exceeed the original file.

Transcode settings should default to last used at the very least, better to allow for user saved settings. Very much appreciate the features already present in Cat Browser. Thank you for listening. As posting pics on this forum is pretty much useless I won't even try to show my problem but I am getting a lot more banding especially in sky shots when I transcode with Catalyst Browse than when I transcode with any of my other programs resolve, premeire when using the same settings.

With resolve the prores transcode is clean but with catalyst I am seeing a ton of banding. Is anyone else seeing this? I find that the Transcoded files are not as clean as from other programs I am using. Especially the noise level. Ian do you think you could get the forums settings changes so we don't need to wait for pictures to be approved? That XAVC transcode is as clean as the original file. Its appears to be a very minor update. Perhaps next update will fix that.

Just installed that, but still crashing. Same with "CPU" selected. So probably nothing that is changed by this update. I've just started playing around with Catalyst Browse in the last couple of days. Things I'd like to flag up so far that I think are lacking: 1.

Multi-file transcode already being addressed, I know. Proper multi-step undo not just revert to original. It should! Or at least have the option to! Could those be added please? Hover over tool tips would be nice. Ability to burn in timecode on transcode would be great! If not, could an option for this be added please?

Other than all that, it's a really great program so far! Thanks Sony!! Currently only Prepare offers verification. I am trying to get at least basic CRC put into Browse. This is a spec change whatever can be said about the original spec and not a bug fix so even if I can get it in there it may have to wait until we get some other things taken care of. Good to hear, thanks Ian. Crashes as soon as I select a raw clip.

If you have an opportunity can you send me the following files from your system? Note that unless you manually turned on your User Library it will be hidden Even a few frames? Does the behavior change if you change the decode to CPU? Tried to install 1. Is this on Windows? If so does temporarily disabling the firewall help?

If only as a quick test? Ive tried multiple times to update but keep getting: "An error has occured while extracting the archive. Please try again later".

On a Mac if that helps. Any ideas? Ian, Is there a way to find the instaler of the first version. It was working perfectly and now that I've install the update it worked one time, crashed and doesn't want to restart. I tried to desinstall and re-instal it but nothing works anymore Is there a way to jump from one shot to the next with closing the shot you've just been looking at, goint to browse and clicking the next Thanks JG.

Hi Ian, here's the link to log files. The problem is that the clip it seems to be rendered badly. Completely different from the Raw Viewer, a lot of contrast even if I set grade in Log. Yes, I see exactly the same behavior.

Like I already explained a few posts below. Great to see the developement on the issues This is a good idea. I'll look into the possibility of adding a transcription feature but it would probably be part of Prepare, not the free Browse app Ian, any idea why I can't install it? We are still looking into the installation issues, stand by.

The transcription code is a great idea I'd buy that! The feature set is very similar but is still being finalized. I've been on the road and haven't had time to read the entire thread, but am I correct that others are experiencing degraded image quality with CAtalyst compared to Content Browser?

Even when selecting "play all frames" it still looks considerably worse than what I see in content browser. Didier - we were having the same problem with installation - says it has installed then brief rollback message then it's gone.

Our IT guy was baffled, eventually discovered it is to do with the firewall. He had switched the firewall service off, assuming that was the cause of the problem but in the logs it shows the software tries to add a rule to the firewall and if it doesn't find one it gives up.

This worked for us and were able to install OK. This is on Windows 7 64bit. Hope it works for you. Tried it before and tried it again 30 min ago, doesnt work Window7 64bit.

Yes, see my earlier post. We discovered this a couple weeks ago but acc to the user it didn't fix his issue.. Hi Ian Sorry for asking again but do you know when the batch transcode will be sorted as without it I can not use the software for what I need it for!

Is it days, weeks or months? Thaks Ian. Same with White Balance. It sees that the footage was shot with CineEI set to but I cannot change that. So it's pretty pointless. Now that Prepare is out, I am looking for the announcement that you can use a valid ContenBrowser serial number. Could someone please help me where I've read that? And has someone already tried to register with a ContentBrowser serial?

If you purchased a Browser serial you will get an emai from Sony Creative Software with a free serial for Prepare. I'm checking on when these will be going out.. But what is with the existing serial that came with my F5?

How do I get the new one? Downloaded Mac version of Prepare. Selected "Add Source" but not all of my drives show up under Devices. With Browser all drives show up under Devices. I do not see this when adding a Source Mavericks I'm also on It does not see more than 10 devices, I unmounted 2 drives, restarted Prepare and then 2 more devices whould show up, but not more than Browser however shows all devices connected.

I tried my Content Browser serial which came with my F3, but it wouldn't work with Catalyst. Same here. I've a had a bit of a play with it today. I think I prefer Raw Viewer even with its limitatons.

Installed prepare without a problem, still can't install catalyst browse The 10 device limit is a bug that we have addressed, the fix will be in the next update. Thanks Ian, I'll find a way around it till then. I've revisted Catalyst and I'm warming to it I really try to use it, because it will be the future. But I really don't like it in the status that it is now.

RAW is impossible due to constant crashing. You cannot cut and paste footage. You cannot see the complete content of a RAW folder just in case it's hasn't crshed before you get there and the whole interface feels like a "touch" app on a tablet. I really hope that there will be a significant improvement as soon as the first working Version is released. No, not here. But I cannot move the slider.

It looks simpler than Raw viewer but is actually more complex as you have to navigate different windows to find what you want.. I am having issues transcoding single clips. I click for it to transcode and nothing happens! No information - is it rejected or is it tanscoding I will continue to use Raw Viewer until Catalyst is up to scatch. I also have issues transcoding. What I have discovered as the solution; shut down Catalyst, open it and the set up a transcode is as few clicks as possible. If that fails-shut it down and repeat until it works It's just an early beta version.

And don't get me wrong. All that criticism is not ment to belittle the program, but to let the developers know where the problems are. Once all is working it might be a good program. Is there any way an eject card function could be made inside Catalyst? Unless I'm missing somthing, now I have to close the program, eject the card, plug in another card and reopen the program on my MacBook Pro to view the contents of a second card.

The program work well for viewing SLog material in the field with the client. Question about prepare: is it possible the make LUTs without importing the images? Now I have to import the images that are allready on my drive to make color adjustements, and if I remember correct, I didn't had to do that in catalyst browse. Very handy for sending examples of framing, lighting, etc to other crew working on the same project in other locations.

I preferred the old Explorer window in Content Browser, where you could select a source and expand it without making the other sources vanish More of a hierarchial file view. Really don't get Sony's mindset on this. If you want your cameras to be the ones everyone uses, these days that means smoothing the post path - thats a lesson Red is still learning. If you can't do a native post codec like Prores part of the reason that the Alexa has obtained the status it has that means making drivers and software as easily and simply avilable.

Canonstarted hiding software behind seriel numbers - and they dropped that pretty quickly. You don't have to use this software! Has any Content Browser user received a Prepare license yet from Sony? No you don't have to use it - but there are times where it would be easier. Especially when it comes to getting the material into FCP 7, which alot of people are still using. I agree you dont have to use it and in fact I am not using it as to me, at the moment, it is unusable without batch transcode anyway!

I for one think the cost is too high and if its not going to be given to the F55 owners who lets face it are Sony's premium customers then I'm just going to stick with what I have got ie FCPX and Reslove. No, I don't think so. But I was sure that I've read somewhere, that every content browser user should get on. But so far I haven't heard how that will be organized. At the moment at least Catalyst Browse is buggy and unusable anyway.

But as soon as there is a working version they should offer a plan. Can you confirm that someone said somewhere that there will be a free licence for every content browser user?

Any info yet on when those serials will be going out? The software team will be sending out emails to users who purchaed Content Browser licenses from the website.

I don't have an exact ETA yet but it should be happening soon. In the meantime there is a two week trial available. If you received your Content Browser serial number with a camera or deck you will have to purchase a Prepare license. For users with issues installing Browse, are you seeing any difference with the recent 1. If you have an opportunity to check this please let me know.

It's installed! Works on the pc now, thx for solving this. Currently I don't think this is planned but I will see what we can do. Thanks Ian, I know it's a Mac thing so I won't get my hopes up. But just to confirm. If I got my Content Browser from buying a new F I will not be getting Prepare for free? Or at a discount? Correct, you need to have purchased the serial to get the free Prepare license. Retail is Probably a joke If ContentBrowser is discontinued we need a replacement.

That software is a part of the workflow working with this cameras. So reconsider this, please. I liked to transfer and organize clips from one file folder window to another in Content Browser. Is this easy method of clip organization and management possible in either Browse or Catalyst? So far I have not been able to select clips in a folder and move them to another within either program.

This seems like basic functionality to me. I liked that Content Browser made this easy, and automatically transferred all the metadata. Something that is a hassle when trying to move clips within the multiple folder structures on a computer's file system viewer. I thought if we had a Content Browser licence this could be used to activate Catalyst Browser, but the serial is in the incorrect format. My Catalyst trial just finished. What is the situation in this case Ian? Thanks, Peter. If you received your CB serial in the box with your camera you will need to purchase a license for Prepare.

Really feeling the love Comforting to know that i wasn't the one one to question this decision by sony. Ian, do you know when we should get this email with the new serial for Prepare? Trial expired Thank you.

I'm pretty sure I bought by Content Browser online Haven't received a Prepare serial yet. Can't see the logic! Shame on you Sony! There's no way for me to understand your logic. Don't you think it's already enough that we need to pay silmply for having internal 4K like our phones and the FS7? Please let us know you respect us and the investment we made because we trusted you I think I will staying with Raw Viewer unless I have to move.

Ian, as they are specifically I think related to Catalyst Browse, I was wondering if you could please offer an answer to my questions No. I'll look into the 'lighter' clips but I'd really bneed to know the whoke process you used to troubleshoot this. That said there are some LUT handling and grading bugs athat are on deck to be fixed in an upcomiong patch. Unless I am missing something the data rate is correct. The shutter anomaly might be because it's not a continuous scale or because Catalyst is not reading the metadata correctly.

I'll check this. Thanks for the detailed post. Thanks for your reply Ian! I look forward to hearing more back from you Is 93Mbps correct as Catalyst Browse shows?

Surely they wouldn't both have the same data rate? Premiere automatically created a timeline sequence to match the settings of this clip. Actually, I chnaged the sequence codec to Uncompressed bit YUV later in the stage, but this had no visually notable effect on the look of the video. Catalyst Browse was set to "Grade in Rec.

I then went to export that clip "Transcode to". Once would assume this should essential leave the look of the video untouched, right? But that clip, when loaded into Premiere looks lighter than the first clip. I hope that makes sense and clarfies my process for this part of my test?

Regarding the difference in brightness between the 25fps shots and the fps shots the first half of my video I think I need to do another test with better lighting and come back on that one I have both a content browser licence that I recieved 'free' as I had spent 18, pounds on a camera, plus an almost equal amount on cards, viewfinder, RAW Recorder, card readers, and a licence that I spent an extra 24 USD on so that I can effectively work with the footage.

Thanks, James. Ian, In working with Prepare, I would like to output transcode a file s with only selected audio tracks -similar to the feature in Content Browser. Is this possible? Ian, In Prepare, is there a way to select the audio tracks to be 1 monitored, 2 exported during transcode? You can select the which channels to monitor using the audio controls click on the speaker icon in the activity pane at the top of the player window but presently these are not honored when you transcode.

Good to hear. Hi Ian, Loving the new software. Modern feel and a great deal more user focused. Quick question re Prepare and the licencing options. I purchased this less than 6 months ago before i became aware of the new software. Can you advise on how to get a working serial number for prepare as the one i recieved with the Advance pack didnt work.

Unfortunally i installed prepare as soon as it was released and the trial has expired. Where did I miss this?!? I just found that there is a new Version of Browse online. Why isn't that the hottest news in this thread?!? I probably missed it and you all know that already Thanks! I'm surprised Ian didn't announce it! Not sure if I got a bad copy or what.. But my Catalyst Browse 1. I'm on a Mac Book Pro Mavricks All my files are on a G-series 4tb drive, running firewire to a thunderbolt connection.

When I open catalyst browse and go to my first folder of footage, it attempts to load the footage, with the load icon cycling but never loads, it just keeps cyling. I then have to force quit the program, and relaunch. The clips now begin to load, showing thumbnails. However once I start playing the footage back in the preview, its unreliable, choppy, and skips many frames.

On another note personal suggestions for the software Being able to click the arrow next, or previous to cycle to the next clip instead of having to go back to browse and click on the clip and switch back to view. A great perk would be able to tag clips with colors! I use this method for tagging the best action clips. So when I came back to viewing at a later time, or another editor, we knew which clips to look for quickly.

I work in action sports I see the potential this software has and only hope it makes it there soon! There is no such thing as a "bad copy" in this modern software ages I had many complaints about the many bugs in and the crashes of the software. But the last release from last Monday I guess seems to solve them all. Others didn't report all of those problems.

So many things seem system dependent. So keep telling your problems here, maybe someone takes note of them. I found new problems with colorcorrection and then switching to other clips, which make the screen go to a bitmap-like black and white image. But that I consider a "normal bug" in this early stage. But the big ones like complete crashing or parameters that do nothing are gone here. Using Catalyst prepare now with no luck with any of my. MXF file types. See image.. Can someone please tell me when the "Batch Transcode" will be working?

This was largely for the FS7 but there are a few other undocumented tweaks in there. You have always been able to see all the clips in a Cineroot or other directory while in View mode. Click on the source in the upper left to do this, then select the clip to load into the viewer by clicking on a thumbnail. That explains why I couldn't find it. Hoping to consolidate to one program Finaly got the email from Sony for Prepare!!!!

Well done Sony, keep up the good work! I will surely buy from you again, not. What is the big advantage of prepare? I imediately uninstalled it when I saw that they will charge for that. Now that Browse is here in the first working version I think the most important things are covered.

Checking footage and exporting to other fileformats. Especially DPX. So what else has prepare to offer? We were told something and it changed. This is not good business to me, that's all, especially from a huge brand like Sony. Ian, Whats going on? This is turning into a real mess! Please tell your bosses to sort this all out, please!!!

Another request for Batch Transcode to be implemented so I can start using Catalyst. Also I miss the Copy All tab from content browser- All clips have to selected to copy and you can bet somewhere somehow one clip will not get selected First try with cat Browser.. Let me Clarify that while i understand companies like Sony need to make money a little customer good will could go a long way.

Wouldnt it be great if we were posting about how we all recieved our upgrade emails and what a great job sony did! Ian Cook, is it possible to contact you off the list please?

The last minute change re the Prepare vouchers is not something I have a lot of control over. Regrettably this is the darker side of 'features and pricing subject to change Thanks for your understanding. There should be no problem here.

Tried to transcode.. Im on Mac Not ready for real work thats for sure.. The Browse and Prepare apps have a great looking interface and on paper, the feature set, even ignoring the lack of batch processing, is compulsive. The reality is a little different. Current project: ingest, edit and export. MXF clips with basic metadata Simple enough it may seem? I'm running a new Quad i7 laptop, maxed and yet Prepare is glacially slow. Nothing else is running.

No wonder it is not achieving any results. More painfuly, no metadata is being embedded checked with Bridge and SR Viewer , so all the work has been for nothing. I want to be positive, these apps have so much potential, but Browse for one is unusably slow. Needless to say I will not be buying it.

Ian, a couple more issues spotted with Prepare, I think they also are in Browse : 1. It doesn't remember my view setting in the "open" windows. Always defaults to icon view, not the list view where I last left off. Doesn't remember my loaded source folders upon quit and relaunch. Also, really needs tooltips and right-click like pretty much every other piece of software on the planet, please!

Will I get such an email? Is anything being done about the fact that originally we were told it would be free for those who bought CB in the past? See my earlier remarks re the policy change. Sorry Ian your sounding a bit battle weary..

Im sure i can speak for everyone here.. Thanks again..! Well said Robbie - it is not an easy job I have the T shirt representing an organisation with many layers of management and Ian is doing a great job. Despite my current negative feelings, I'm sure these will shape up as great software products, given a little time and commitment. Well said.

Thanks Ian for participating in this forum. More officials should follow your example. Plus 1 It would be great to see a clear table of delineating features on the web site for Catalyst between the two apps. At the moment it is almost impossible to put a case for buying 'Prepare' to my company bean counters! If for instance it was stated clearly that batch processing would only be available when ready for Prepare and not Browse, then we'd have a better case.

I thought catalyst prepare is to prepare for edit not for data transfer. Both are for data transfer and ingest but Prepare has more features and will also eventually support non-Sony formats. As per your request to post in this thread. I stated my opinions of Cat Browse here. My requests.. Mission Critical! Such a nice intuitive facility that it is a really good way to quick grade any Sony camera footage even if you are not a colourist. Thank you SMM. Adobe and Apple copied it, so why not Sony too?

It makes a great deal of sense. So many lessons have been learnt in RAW processors that it makes no sense to start all over and re-invent the wheel. Avid latest apparently cannot handle them on a PC. With my stills hat on ive been using C1 for a decade - so yes copy C1. I feel like an idiot with Catalyst Browse, but in the Mac version I cannot see how I tell it where to send my transcoded files. I got to File, Set what output codec I want, but when I hit export it says there is no destination chosen.

Where do I set that? What am I missing here. The whole interface is so crude. Feels like there was first a designer, then a non-user for testing, then the programmers and now we, the users, as betatesters to find all the problems.

I do all that.. I worked out Cont B in 5 mins.. Im of average intelligence.. Ok got this one working thank god. Thread to review on Catalyst software series, comparison, cautions and tips. This works for the cameras themselves as well as post production workflow processes. A big deal right now is that if you want to use Catalyst Prepare to work on footage already on your hard drive it must make a duplicate copy of it to its working flolder.

This is a deal breaker - even if it was free. This must be addressed. You can ingest files that have already been copied. I have asked for a quick Copy All button like we have in Content Browser. Perhaps I wasn't very clear so I've updated my post. Basically what I meant was that if you want to use Catalyst Prepare to work on footage already on your hard drive it must make a duplicate copy of it to its working flolder.

It should be able to work on footage already on local hard drives. Cheers, happy holidays. That folder will be added as a Source and you can transcode or copy from there withoput having to do an Import. Cool Ill check that if I get there before the trial expires! Ok great Ian, looks like I missed that. Will give it a go and update my review s on the Catalyst series.

I would like to re-emphasise the point that CBrowse should be fully functional for Sony cameras and free. Simply if you are a production company you can hire a Red user and sort out thier footage for free, using RedCineX. Even GoPro have free stuff to get the most from thier footage. But isn't Catalyst Browse free?!? I read so much that it isn't, but it is, right? We just posted some new updates to Browse and Prepare.

Batch Transcoding has been restored in Browse provided source clips are in the same format. Thanks to all who helped me lobby to get this restored asap. It was always part of the feature set but was temporarily removed for development reasons admittedly at the worst possible time There is a lot more in the works so stay tuned..

Browse 1. Added support for multifile transcoding when all source files use the same source settings. Added support for reading DNxHD clips. Added support for transcoding to interlaced XAVC formats.

Added the Transcode button to the Adjust Color workspace. Added Brightness and Contrast sliders to the Adjust Color workspace. Added support for reading Apple ProRes files Mac only. Added support for showing source clips from the Media Browser. Added support for showing additional metadata values in the Media Browser.

Fixed a bug that could prevent color correction settings from being applied to all clips in a clip list. Prepare 1. Added support for exporting DNxHD clips. Nice work! Browse What is the motivation of nailing all the colour corrections together?

It would seem to me that on a quick turnaround job you will de-log and then quicly dive through and make some corrections before transcoding to NLE codec and resolution For example you might have shot a day in school and the kitchen shots might have been a bit green, so you want to take green out of all the shots in the kitchen, but not the woodwork room? Don't think of mixed locations per card per say, think single location per card; - you shot an entire card under mixed lighting such as flo's and daylight and will want a "one fix all" slight correction - maybe you overexposed 1 stop on an entire card because you were shooting green screen and wanted to improve signal-to-noise - maybe your 2nd AC mounted a pink filter instead of blue etc..

I think its practical. Im very suspect with Sony cams of breaking the Root directory structure. With a simple camera with no sidecar files and the like it would indeed be simple to make three directories, woodwork, kitchen, gym, but with Sony file structrue Im very scared of that? Ian is there any sum checker when copying in Cat Browse.. Thanks Ian.. Hey Ian, Is there any knowledge if Catalyst Browser will support similar features to Content Browser when it comes to organization?

I'm using Content Browser still to add folders, cut, copy, and paste clips into new directories for organizing clips to there areas. We're always open to ways to improve the UI and this is something presenty under discussion. Installed Prepare v1. It was a failure. Along comes v1. Sounds very interesting, I'd be delighted if Prepare works out well. Ah, problem: "Your trial has expired How about organising and official, international method of gathering user feedback to improve these two programs?

Surely you cannot be solely responsible for gathering user feedback from this one resource? There needs to be a better way! It often feels like sometimes Sony forget or are not aware that we, the users of your tools, really care and really want to help make things the best the can be! How can you Sony possibly know what is best for your market without taking onboard user feedback in a more formalised manner?

In this forum you have a fantastic and free market research tool. Let us share the process! An excellent idea! This software has too much potential to be left in the hands of engineers The best products have always been shaped by user feedback. Aren't these forums as much of an International program as needed? Users are providing feedback and it's making its way into updates. And fast I might add.

What's wrong with what already exists, why do we constantly badger Sony for something more than they are already doing? Do we want more resources on this, do we want prices to go up as a result, or do we want free software?

Go try talking to Canon or Panasonic, let me know how they do it. And if it's better. Fair points Dennis. But when I refer to International I didn't mean the users, rather it was a comment that stemmed from a time when I was invited into Sony Europe's offices for a discussion about how to improve training resources for pro video and broadcast equipment.

I suggested that in my opinion, alongside masterclasses at the DMPCs, the best resource was this forum, and that I felt the potential it has isn't being fully harnessed by Sony. In my opinion all Sony staff from around the world i. Because this is where are large part of the International user base is How can one be so certain that he for instance is seeing any of the feedback we users provide on here if the Sony PSE training team didn't really seem to know about this forum at all?

True true I am aware I am being quite idealistic, and I suppose what I'm suggesting unfortunately isn't much in line with how such large companies generally work! Perhaps foolishly I was a little hasty with my messages above, and somehow totally missed the announcement from ian above.

I'm not sure why Having said that, i feel a lot of what I said above is still relevent There is a lot more in the works so stay tuned Thank you for your engagement with us. Related to Videosoul's comments about subscribed threads, I have requested from the Forum support team that email notifications include the text or summary text of new posts in the email, as other forums do - it makes keeping track of posts and replies so much easier.

Typically for Sony, there was a rapid and friendly reply. Always appreciated! I guess that if anyone else feels the same way or has other suggestions to make, the more chance there is that the forum tools will be improved? Customer Relations. A few things before we get ahead of ourselves. I don't know who you are talking to but management both here and in Japan as well as our dev groups follow it, and I also gather consolidated feedback on a regular basis.

No, they were not even close to public betas. A bit limited and lacking a few features but this is how it goes with software development. Thanks to Videosoul and others for all the great feedback and support. The applications are getting better every day and we have a lot planned.. Thank you for this excellent clarification Ian, and apologies if I caused offence. You are a shining star from Sony on this forum. Posted a screen shot of Prepare v1. When i try and install Catalyst Browse on my laptop i get a rollback message and nothing is installed after it says the software has been succesfully installed..

Haven't run into that one yet myself. I used a very clean install of Windows 7 x I had no problems, I am however running SP1. Also try disabling any firewall during installation, see if that helps. Ian, after beeing able to install the previous version Catalyst B, I updated 5 minutes ago and have the same problem as before, can't install roll back. I have the same issue for prepare, were before that worked just fine to install.

I disabled the firewall, no results there. Any idea what the problem could be? Reinstall with firewall and AV disabled. See if that helps. DidierLenglaert, leave the windows firewall on.. This program has made noticeable progress, so I decided to give it another chance. So I set the in and out points as usual and try to export that.

But when I am hitting the transcode button, I see no way to specify if I want the whole clip or just the in and out section. So I suppose it's always the in and out section and hit transcode.

But then it starts to export the whole clip. What did I miss, or is that another BIG thing to improve in the program? In Browse setting the the in and out points is for playback. See manual, " If you want to play only a portion of a video, you can use the Mark In and Mark Out buttons to select the portion of the video you want to play. Another setback compared to raw viewer. But good to know and I can stop searching that function. I dont think its a firewall problem because I'm still able to install the previous version.

There is another thread on this another use started, I've included my crash log file there as well. Mac Users, if you are getting crashes please try and upload the following: 1.

Crash log 3. My crash on OSX There I also included a log dump file. Upload to where? My crash log is 32 pages long. I need all logs, feedback, etc posted or linked in this thread.

Supported video formats and devices. Create, import, and export Sony Professional Disc clip lists for quick playout.
